I’ve been going to Home Depot and Loew’s in Ithaca for years. I’m always leaving in a state of frustration as I used to be unsure which store was the worst in customer service. I’ve even shopped in both stores this week. But I must say that Home Depot has really done a great job lately in getting and training new staff. My last few visits there have actually been a pleasure as staff actively worked to help me at a moments notice. I had some difficult needs and requests for unusual items. The staff understood what I was asking and knew right where to find my list of items. They even offered to walk me directly to each location. In purchasing an 8’ ladder, they saw which one I was after and the went to work getting it down, rounding up a cart, loading it and then pushing it to the registered for me. When I went to Loews for similar stuff, the staff there just tried to find items on a hand held computer and directed me to the row and bin number without really understanding what I needed. By name, they got closed but in fact it was the wrong part and the real need was 23 aisles away. In fact the workers in Loews really were untrained and lacked knowledge in basic building materials.

This was a great experience - Richard from Garden came over to help with my plumbing issue and was wonderful. He and two other colleagues listened to my issue two times and asked clarifying questions to make sure I got the right parts. I felt heard and I really appreciated the effort they put forward to help me!

I was gladly surprised to learn that I could order furnishings from Home Depot in Ithaca. I found beautiful pieces, crafted from natural rattan, wicker, & seagrass. There had been a fire in our former Apt. building. How convenient to choose furnishings online during our hotel stay! A savvy & kind Representative helped me with ordering. She also kindly helped with returning a good air conditioner that was accidentally affected when my precious son opened the box. Other times when visiting the store, kind Representatives have cheerfully directed me to various items. I highly recommend Home Depot in Ithaca, NY.

This review is specifically for Anthony & Becky in the paint department yesterday. I needed 2 gallons, which they didn’t have in stock, so they worked together to mix enough quarts to fulfill my order. Their attention to detail, incredible patience, and kind professionalism in such a busy environment was well worth a 5 star service. I’m so grateful how much care was put into making my order perfect.

On a $3,500 Trex deck project, the quality of lumber & Trex decking supplies that were delivered to me from Home Depot, Ithaca, NY was poorest quality imaginable. After I complained, I was to receive a communication to arrange replacement pieces, but that never came. A second delivery was refused by the driver, claiming the residence was inaccessible. After another communication, the store representative admitted he forgot to contact me. $150 was offered as compensation at which I laughed at. $300 refund was then offered, which I accepted because dealing with incompetence is too time consuming.
